The Real Estate Scorecard is a self-named “community matchmaker”. They collect information, including resident surveys and on-site inspections, to rate the master planned communities in the Southeast. Recognizing the difficulty that people were experiencing comparing multiple states, cities and neighborhoods as they selected a place to relocate to a lower cost of living area in the Southeast at retirement, Real Estate Score Card began by making the road trip first finding the most popular master planned communities, and by analyzing them before recommending them to others.
The result of these investigations is the Real Estate Scorecard, a report that describes and compares the most popular master planned communities in the Southeast.

Golf Hole # 7 Harbor Club
Lake Oconee is pleased that the 2018 Bliss Award for the Best Georgia Community of the Year is given to our own Harbor Club!
Harbor Club on Lake Oconee is located in Central Georgia, just below the snow line and away from coastal hurricanes. While weather is a key factor driving many folks to the south for retirement, they also long to live by the water and are drawn to larger lakes where they can go boating, fishing and enjoy water sports. Lake Oconee is a common choice as it is Georgia’s second largest lake with 19,971 acres and 374 miles of shoreline.

The landscape of the neighborhood is beautiful and compliments its award winning lakefront golf course. Over the past 25 years, the Harbor Club golf course is frequently on the ‘best of the best’ lists. It touches the shoreline of Lake Oconee on six different holes, skirts four creeks, and offers a number of Weiskopf-Morrish Risk Reward holes. Its velvety greens, alluring fairways and scenic views of the lake are pure eye candy for the soul. Residents love the fact that the weather allows for year-round play and that the course is designed for players of all skill levels. They also like that they are not forced to join the golf club although most do because it’s so affordable.
The club’s 15,000 square foot clubhouse is everything one would expect it to be. Both elegant in atmosphere with fine and casual dining, all overlooking the 18th green and croquet lawn. Here members enjoy trivia nights, holiday parties, happy hours, live-music, themed dinner events, seminars, luncheons, and many more reasons to have fun together. The health and wellness amenities at the clubhouse include an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis and pickle-ball courts.
Harbor Club on Lake Oconee recently added a new 2,000 square foot Grove fitness and recreational campus in the Carriage House near the entrance. The center is appointed with modern Life Fitness cardio and resistance exercise equipment. In addition to the fitness equipment, there is a group fitness and yoga room for scheduled Zumba and yoga classes. Two new trails are on the grounds of The Grove. One is a new mile-long, mulched hiking trail. The other is a Fit-Trail®, which includes 10 fitness stations for stretching, bending and strength training.

While golf and fitness rank high on the list of fun things to do, the lake is another main attraction. Harbor Club’s Lake Oconee Marina won an Aurora Award for “Best Recreational Facility in the Southeast”. The marina has 72 dry-docks, fuel, boat rentals, boat ramp and a community day dock. Soon the marina be Lake Oconee’s largest with 300 dry-dock boat slips. The Boathouse is Lake Oconee’s only in-water boat friendly restaurant. The Boathouse Restaurant offers tasty dishes and cold refreshments. During the summer months, you’ll find free live-music concerts on the lawn.
Even though almost 600 homes have been built to date of the 900 planned, there is still plenty of opportunities to build a dream home at Harbor Club with the latest technology and energy efficiency. The Southern Living Inspired model home is available to tour, a 3,300 square contemporary farm house located on #11 green of the lakefront golf course.
