For those who are veteran shoppers, this blog is a part of a series about Lake Oconee Shopping
Also refer to Lake Oconee Shopping-Greensboro.
A most convenient shopping area when visiting the Lake Oconee communities is the Lake Oconee Village. Located at the entrance of Reynolds Plantation, Lake Oconee Village is a 600 acre master-planned development with a variety of shops and professional services in one convenient location. The local landmark for this area is the Lake Oconee Publix grocery store about halfway between Greensboro and Eatonton.
Including the local movie theater, many restaurants, and professional offices, this convenient village has good choices for upscale shopping and dining.
Just behind the movie theater there is a cluster of specialty shops that offers the chance for park-and-walk convenience while shopping,1010 Parkside Commons, The first store at 1010 Parkside Commons is Madeleine Page, a boutique that specializes in every woman’s desire, shoes! At Madeleine Page Classy Footware and Accessories there is a display of shoes that is to die for. The finest in Lake Oconee, casual shoes, hats, handbags, swimwear, and apparel are available. (Hint: There is always a section of sale items in the back.)
Plantation Olive Oil Company is only a few steps from Madeleine Page. This store is Lake Oconee’s version of the new trend of enjoying the best olive oils and balsamic vinegars in one’s cooking and dining. The store operates as a tasting room, and exotic oils and vinegars are available for purchase by the bottle. In this attractive shop, one can sample over 65 varieties of premium extra virgin olive oils, fused and infused olive oils, gourmet oils and aged balsamic vinegars from around the world. I have become a patron of this fascinating store and love to buy their wares for the perfect hostess gift, or for my own enjoyment. Have you ever tried blood orange flavored balsamic vinegar on your ice cream?
Then step just across the parking lot to the charming Paper Soiree. This boutique was started by a mother and daughter team to share their love of stationary, cards, and gifts. The Paper Soiree is my go-to-store for baby gifts, and tableware. These days women’s clothing and jewelry are also on display for that emergency
gift for yourself!
Just past the Paper Soiree on 1010 Parkside Commons there are other shops, the Magnolia Art Gallery, and The Couture Consigner that invite you to visit.
There is a treasure to be found a little further back amid the professional offices in the Lake Oconee Village : Aurum Jewelry and Art on 1051 Parkside Commons. Aurum Jewelry and Art is a special boutique that features exquisite jewelry, art, and unique gifts in a wide price range. Aurum like any jeweler creates custom jewelry and does repairs, but also is a purveyor of original art, woven scarfs, and pottery. In a recent visit I especially liked the adorable pottery chickens roosting together. This is a perfect shop to pick out a unique gift made by a local artisan. Girls can even make “wish list” for their significant other to help make their next present perfect!
One favorite shopping spot that I must not omit stands just North of the Lake Oconee Village at 1001 Village Park Drive. Fishtales is a popular stop for residents and visitors to buy resortwear for men and women, swimwear, jewelry, and unique gifts. Stylish clothing from up-scale designers is available at this shop for both mothers and daughters. Fathers and sons will enjoy the outdoor wear. I have purchased many adorable outfits there, as well as special gifts for friends and clients.
Visit Lake Oconee and enjoy the shopping! Or better, still, buy a home and live here. The shopping choices are unique.
