Harmony Crossing
As part of my series of Good Places to Shop at Lake Oconee, today’s post will feature one of our newer shopping centers, The Village at Harmony Crossing. This active business area is just over the county line in Putnam County on Highway 44. Shops range from ladies’ clothing, kitchen shops, jewelry store, and a patio shop. When going to shop at Harmony, one might first have lunch of pizza or a vegetarian sandwich at the Mellow Mushroom. Other alternative cuisines can be found at the Blu Culina (Mediterranean) and Inaho Japanese Steak and Sushi.
Some of the shops at Harmony Crossing include home services such as lighting, window treatments, carpeting, and patio furniture, but I am focusing today on recreational shopping!
On a recent trip to Harmony Crossing, I visited the 44 Marketplace. The business has 26 booths owned by individual owners to market their wares which include jewelry, decorative objects, and monogrammed gifts and more. I was drawn to the fun decorative items that would be perfect to put in your new Lake Oconee Home. The booth of gift items monogrammed with the area logo, LO was attractive, and I plan to return and purchase items for personal gifts, and especially for real estate closing gifts. Before leaving the store, I noticed a display containing a new craft item, chalk paint. This medium can be used in various ways to update old or new furniture, picture frames, and wall decor. Chalk paint is popular for its ease of use, no prep work! Check out Dixie Belle paint at 44 Marketplace and pick the color for your next project.
A favorite shopping destination of mine for buying real estate closing gifts is Oconee Interiors Kitchen Store and More. This vendor claims to be “your source for everything from quality kitchenware, gadgets, bar-ware, tabletop to linens in the home, even gourmet foods”. My favorite gift for the new homeowner is a collection of home wares purchased at this local store for use in the new home. At the Kitchen Store I put together their wonderful Strahl plastic wine glasses, colorful cloth napkins, and samples of gourmet food and pack it in a welcome basket or tote for the new homeowner’s boat or patio. Oconee Interiors carries favorite brands of Vietri, Riedel, Good Earth, and Henckels. Bed linens are also available in this store.
Walk a little farther down the sidewalk and you will find Christine’s Jewelry store. All kinds of jewelry and accessories are sold in this boutique. Boots, scarves, and hats are sold here, too. Christine’s is the place to find fine jewelry, as well as costume jewelry as gifts for graduation, Christmas, birthdays, or even that special accessory for your new outfit.
Another few steps will take you to Camille and Company. Camille’s is self-described as ladies’ clothing, shoes, and accessories that are “classic with a playful edge”. You can put together your whole outfit here from shoes, jacket, dress or skirt, purse, and jewelry! Babyboomers, as well as Millennials can find apparel at this shop.
These are a few of the recreational shopping stops at Lake Oconee’s The Village at Harmony Crossing. The shopping center draws the community in with special activities such as the Saturday Farmers Market every week from May to September, First Friday on the first Friday of the month there may be special entertainment, as well as open shops and restaurants. They even sponsor a Christmas event each year.
