Lake Oconee offers many opportunities to celebrate the Holiday Season.
We have compiled a partial list of events planned for Lake Oconee visitors and residents to enjoy during the Holiday Season. If you are considering buying property in the Lake Oconee area, this list may give you an idea of all the activities that are available here, in addition to the ones that are only an hour away in Atlanta. December 3. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert, 8 PM Tickets
December 5-8. Madison’s 30th Annual Town & Country Holiday Tour of Homes, Details
December 6. Lighting of the Tree, Greensboro, 6-8 PM. Includes entertainment, Santa Claus, a hayride, and marshmallow toasting.
December 6 and 7. Annual Festival of the Trees, Greensboro, 10 AM to 5 PM. Includes entertainment (Saturday), holiday decorated trees and wreaths for sale, vendors
providing gift sales, and a Saturday “Secret Santa Shop” so that every child can shop for family gifts with the help of special elves. Tickets: adults $5, children $3, children under 7 free. Purchase tickets from local merchants and Festival Hall. Proceeds go the Greene County Boys and Girls Club
December 6, 13, 20. Friday Night Family Time at Crooked Pines Farm, Eatonton. Crooked Pines Farm was founded on the concept of bringing quality events to the community that allow families to create lasting memories. Each Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. visit the Farm and enjoy a delicious cup of hot cocoa while roasting s’mores around the campfire. December 7. Crooked Pines Farm’s Holiday Celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lot allows visitors to meander through the trees and pick out their favorite one while also visiting with Santa from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the country store. December 7. Christmas in the Briar Patch from 3 to 7 p.m., Eatonton. Bring the family to enjoy Christmas arts and crafts bazaar, pictures with Santa, gingerbread house display and contest, and Lighted Holiday Parade starting at 6 p.m.! Details
December 13. Madison Community Holiday Concert, Details
December 15 Crooked Pines Farm’s Santa and Sweets Event will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. within The Barn and will include opportunities to decorate cookies and have one-on-one time with Santa. Pictures with Santa will be taken and a flash drive will be made for parents to take home. This event is $20 for the first child, $15 for each additional child and is by reservation only. December 15 Christmas on the Avenue, Eatonton. 4 & 6 p.m. Come enjoy this annual holiday performance by the church choirs of Eatonton’s North Madison Avenue. It’s free but you must have a ticket. Please call or visit The Plaza Arts Center to reserve your seat, 706-923-1655 or Tickets
December 18 Celtic Yuletide, Festival Hall, Greensboro. Presented by Oconee Performing Arts Society. Michael Londra with an evening of “Christmas from Ireland” told in song, dance and the classic stories of his youth. Details

Cut Your Own Christmas Tree
Lake Oconee even has wonderful local farms to cut your own Christmas Tree. It is a lot of fun to take the children to choose and to cut your own tree to decorate!

Ice Skating at the Ritz.
During the holidays until February22th the Ritz Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation is offering a real ice rink. The 5500 square-foot rink, complete with hot chocolate and s’mores is open daily from 10 am until 2 pm, and from 4 pm until 8 pm. The activity is $30 per hour for adults, and $20 per hour for children 12 and under. This activity is complementary for hotel guests. No reservations are necessary
